The Designers store launch!

Yesterday I attended a shop launch at JLT, it was a collection of Pakistani designers. I didn't think I would find anything to my taste, however there were a few fusion pieces which had a Western vibe about them. I fell in LOVE with a black evening dress which would be perfect for prom. So for prom next year I will definitely be going back to have a look. I've noticed there are a few up and coming fusion brands coming up in Dubai such as WZ2 (blogpost shortly).
Here are some pictures from the event:

 Brownies=yum!
Yes, I was wearing Louboutins! Literally LOVE these shoes. Unfortunately they are not mine, they are my friends who was kind enough to let me borrow them for the night. As soon as I get my first ever paycheck I am going to buy a pair, for sure.

Fia interviews: The best and worst things about living in Dubai!

I interviewed Kerry from Aquarius magazine about the pro's and con's of living in Dubai as I said in my previous post here is my article:

EXPAT PACT LIFE = THE SWEET LIFE?
"Moving here was a culture shock"
Kerry from Aquarius magazine tells me about her favorite things about living in Dubai, places to hangout and expat life style after five years here.

What were your first impressions about Dubai?
Moving here was a culture shock. I didn't like it at first but it definitely grew on me.

What are the negatives about living here?
The weather! The lack of greenery and I would say the rules and regulations at times.

Do the horror stories about Dubai scare you then?
Not really, I guess you just have to be aware. I used to work night shifts and had a couple of run-ins with dodgy taxi drivers but so long as know what to do you're fine.

How is the lifestyle here different to back home?
It's extremely different! People here tend to go out more to socialize as opposed to going to peoples houses.

What do you think people living outside Dubai need to know about life here?
It's not as bad and as hetic as everyone imagines. People seem to think we have no freedom which is not true, it's not Saudi! Though on the other hand some may think we lead a very glitzy lifestyle which is not always true, although Dubai can be very glamorous we do lead normal lives!

Where are your favorite places to hangout in Dubai?
Probably, Nashmi Beach and Barasti. I also love to shop at Dubai Mall.

Finally, what's one thing you'd change about Dubai?
Greater cultural integration and mixing would be nice.

I had loads of fun conducting my first ever interview! I hope it was of some interest to you though not fashion or beauty related. I shall be back to normal posts as of tomorrow!

Aquarius magazine work shadowing!

Today and tomorrow I am interning at Aquarius magazine as I want to go into journalism when I finish University. I thought I'd do a quick blog post telling you about my day with a few pictures.

We started the day looking at magazines such as Scene, Friday and Aquarius and comparing the target markets of each.

Me holding up the Scene magazine covering the CeeCode event I attended!
 My notes!
Next we designed our own 'Teen' magazine called Aqua which was really fun! The two girls I was with and I came up with articles we wanted thought would be interesting for the target audience.
In the afternoon we were given interview topics and asked to interview a person who worked on the magazine. I was asked to interview a lady named Kerry about 'the best and worst things about living in Dubai.' We were asked to write up the answers as an article, which I am going to do as my next blog post as I think it would be of interest to my readers living in Dubai.
(Of course wearing my new bracelets by Rock on!)

Stay tuned for my interview on 'The best and worst things about living in Dubai' next!

Look what I got!

So I FINALLY got two Rock-on by Lauren bracelets! I was so excited, as I have been wanting some for months, literally. I picked them up at last nights event at O-Concept store. They are perfect for the summer season, especially for festivals! I shall definitely be wearing mine to Reading festival in August.

Light pink skull bracelet: 125DHS
Light blue peace bracelet: 75DHS

The other day I was in New Look and I almost screamed when I saw this:
The pictures aren't of the best quality but you get the idea. Its basically hot pink skulls with one disco ball bead. It goes perfectly with the Rock-on bracelets and the best part is it was only 30DHS!

EL-J t-shirt launch @ the Alegra Lounge!

Last night I attended the very glamorous affair that was the launch of Eljammi Gozallis t-shirt line held at the Alegra Lounge. We were treated to a fashion show showcasing the t-shirts which were of a unique style. Somewhat plain t-shirts transformed with dashes of sequins, pearls and ribbons perfect for adding glamour to an everyday outfit. Here are some pictures of the event:
